Goodbye Texas, hello Louisiana. The landscape is noticeably different - lush and green.

Lone Star State

After nearly nine hours of driving, we made it to San Antonio, Texas by nightfall. Since we have a tight schedule to keep, we won't be able to check out the Alamo or the Riverwalk. Pressing on...

Day Two

Pecan Farm
Picacho State Park
Today, we crossed two state borders and chalked up another 430 miles. For the most part, there was a whole lot of nothing. We did see the Pinal Airpark in the far distance. It's like a desert graveyard where old planes are retired. Too bad I couldn't zoom in for a good shot with my digital camera.

Moving Day

We're off on our little adventure. Can't imagine the amount of stuff we've accumulated over the past three years. We came here with two suitcases and ended up with more than 90 boxes of personal belongings and furniture and appliances... All that's going with the movers who have been here since 8 a.m. They're almost done. Yippee!!!

After driving 409 miles, we finally made it to Phoenix, Arizona. One of the most spectacular things we came across today was the Palm Springs windfarm. The largest of these windmills stands 150 feet tall with blades half the legend of a football field. Wow!

Wow! Your photos are so...poignant. Good-bye LA! Fri 9-Jan-2004 10:15

Boxing Day

Warming up by the fireplace
For the first time in 20 years, Ventura County got rain for Christmas. We had almost an inch of rain here in Simi Valley. The temperature right now is 49 degrees Fahrenheit (9 degrees Celsius).
